Program Overview

Learn how AMP prepares graduates for long-term success

AMP’s two-year program will guide you from licensing to learning the skills necessary to become an effective advocate for your clients and their investments, assets and financial plans. Being a successful financial advisor takes more than knowing the rules and the ins and outs of financial products, so AMP also focuses on building the interpersonal skills and business acumen needed to gain clients and grow your business. That wider focus makes AMP different.

“The Advisor Mastery Program is really built in a way to give robust training to new advisors, and that’s what ultimately helped me decide that program was the right way to do it. It’s not focused on just production or just assets, but it’s really about building the whole advisor from start to finish, from prospect to long-term client.”
– AMP Graduate Jamie Losito, CFP®

Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. owns the certification marks CFP®, Certified Financial Planner, CFP® (with plaque design) and CFP® (with flame design) in the U.S., which it awards to individuals who successfully complete CFP Board's initial and ongoing certification requirements.

Inside AMP What is included in AMP’s curriculum?

Broadly, AMP is split into three phases incorporating a wide range of educational methods, with new advisors taking on increasingly more responsibility as they develop their own books of business.

  • Participants start their careers focused on taking and passing their Series 7, Series 66, Securities Industry Essentials and state insurance exams – which are required to work with clients as a financial advisor. AMP candidates study alone with the assistance of digital curriculum during this six-month phase while learning from their local mentors, giving them a chance to observe a skilled professional at work.

  • AMP’s second phase is the heart of the curriculum, with mentors providing day-to-day guidance, week-to-week interactive distance learning modules and three headquarters visits to Raymond James’ home office in St. Petersburg, Florida. During this phase, you can also obtain the Accredited Asset Management Specialist® (AAMS®) designation. These 11 months will build your skills, your confidence, and put you in a community of peers who will learn from you as you learn from them. These visits are a highlight of the program, giving you the opportunity to hear from industry experts and Raymond James’ senior leaders.

  • In the final six months, you will identify the areas of specialization that will differentiate your practice, match your practice objectives or expand the expertise of your team. You will also be directed to other Raymond James programs designed to help you master these diverse areas of interest. With branch manager approval, you may also pursue the Certified Financial Planner designation.
